Well Azure SQL Database Long Term Backup Retention is now in Public Preview. This allows us to keep out backups now for up to 10 years which may meet your compliance criteria better then the offerings beforehand and certainly may give us more options for recovery which is always a good option to have.
We’ll create a Recovery Services vault beforehand or use one we already have (it must be in the same resource group, geographic region and subscription) and then we’ll select the Long-term backup retention option:
Once we’ve done this we get the new options available from 1 – 10 years of retention. Simply select the Recovery Services vault, the retention period and the recovery policy will be created:And its as simple as that!
