MCSE qualification requires a recertification every three years to validate your skills on the SQL Server Platform. With my certification soon requiring the update I started to think about getting it done sooner rather than later.
Recently the SQL Server MCSE recertification has become available as a knowledge track on Microsoft Virtual Academy.

Having decided to go down the Microsoft Virtual Academy route to recertify I next had to look at the requirements, similar to the skills measured sections if you were taking the exam.
The requirements for the MCSE: Data Platform Database Administrator track consisted of ten modules
Database Fundamentals – Data platform fundamentals
Microsoft Azure Fundamentals: Storage and Data – Data platform fundamentals
Querying with Transact-SQL – Data platform fundamentals
Windows Server Administration Fundamentals – Understand infrastructure fundamentals
Networking Fundamentals – Understand infrastructure fundamentals
Security Fundamentals – Understand infrastructure fundamentals
Administering Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Jump Start – Install and configure a database management system (DBMS), manage database operations, monitor and manage DBMS health
Designing Database Solutions for SQL Server – Implement DBMS high availability, configure database replication
Upgrading to Microsoft SQL Server 2014 – New product features
Updating Your Database Management Skills to SQL Server 2014 – New product features
The courses were informative and well sectioned out so that you could complete each module and following assessment easily within planned time-scales.
Remember you are already certified, knowledgeable and will have kept your knowledge and skills up to date as part of being an expert with SQL Server. With this in mind the objectives are easily achievable and the method of instruction using Microsoft Virtual Academy was excellent. I fully recommend recertification through this route.
