I attended the pre-con day at SQL Scotland in Edinburgh with Jonathan Kehayias and Joseph Sack from SQLSkills. It was exceptional!
It was a very quick day, which is usually a very good thing. I also came away with a large to-do/to-check list and answers to some of my more involved questions which justified the expense.
The training concentrated on SQL Server 2012 and looked in depth into Availability groups, Columnstore indexes, Partitioning, Query Performance and Extended Events. The last two will come as no surprise to anyone who reads their blogs and knows their background. They had a great, informal and open attitude which encouraged questions and discussion whilst they stayed on topic to deliver the expected presentation.
My takeaway: the feeling of the amount I’d learned on finishing the training.
